For those looking for something a bit easier, Scottsdale is also home to a number of other famous courses like the We-Ko-Pa Golf Club, the Troon Golf Clubs, and the Grayhawk Golf Clubs. With this many stunning courses, no one would blame you for planning a second visit! In fact, the city of Scottsdale sits only 20 minutes from the Phoenix airport, making this an ideal place for a weekend getaway!
Las Vegas, NV
While normally known for its bustling nightlife, Las Vegas actually turns out to be a hotspot for golf enthusiasts throughout the globe. Hosting more than 60 courses, Las Vegas has something no matter your skill level or budget. The city also boasts some of the fewest rainy days anywhere in the US, meaning there’s a slim chance the golf trip you’ve been dreaming of will ever get rained out!
Like Scottsdale, Las Vegas also hosts a championship level course – TPC Las Vegas. One great thing about this course is its location, which sits adjacent to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation area. This is an impressive backdrop to say the least and is sure to make your round one to remember!
Other famous courses can be found closer to the Vegas strip like the Wynn Golf Club and the Bali Hai Golf Club. While both are challenging yet fun courses, your proximity to the Vegas strip won’t be forgotten with a slight upbeat and party themed vibe familiar to both courses.
Of course, there’s also the famed Las Vegas nightlife that can be a fun and exciting addition to any day spent on the links. Additionally, the Las Vegas airport is a major hub and services a large number of domestic flights every day. This makes Las Vegas, like Scottsdale, an ideal stop for a weekend golf excursion!
Kauai, HI
While many think of Hawaii as a tropical paradise known for its beaches, waterfalls, and hiking, Kauai is in fact also a world-renowned traveling destination for golf enthusiasts. Though it might not have the same number of courses as larger more urban destinations, most courses on Kauai offer breathtaking ocean views, a lush green tropical setting, and a cool ocean breeze to accompany you while you play.
After a 6 million dollar renovation in 2010, the Princeville Makai Golf Club has become one of the most iconic golf courses on the Hawaiian Islands. This course offers lush green scenery everywhere, including large ocean views of Hanalei Bay. In fact, a late afternoon and sunset round played here might just go down as one of your favorite games of all time!
Another popular course includes the Ocean Course at Hokuala, winner of numerous “Best Of” awards throughout major golf publications. Like Princeville, the Ocean Course offers you no shortage of ocean views and a championship level course layout.
While Kauai courses can be pricey, there are a number of public and municipal courses to choose from as well. Most choose to travel to Kauai for extended vacations, meaning that golf can make a great addition to an already fun and exciting trip!
